has anyone seen this movie? it’s the weirdest movie i’ve ever seen. many, like the reviewer from relevant, think it’s the single greatest piece of film-making of the 21st century. it’s got a hefty underground cult following. but there are tons of people who hated it. i think that’s what happens when you have a ridiculously ambitious filmmaker going after his biggest ideas.
i hafta admit — i’m not as enthused as the reviewer quoted above, but i definitely can’t stop thinking about its commentary on some of the “big” stuff in life — love, story, and the human condition.
… and i can’t stop think about how friggin weird it is.

guess what movie won best documentary at the seattle international film festival?
a little movie called for the bible tells me so.
i caught the film on the last day of the festival at a special encore screening. it’s on homosexuality and christianity, and it’s everything you might expect of a documentary in an international film festival on the subject: it sharply criticizes biblical literalism, it mocks fundies (they REALLY love slamming jimmy d), and it can be pretty hilarious. lots of gene robinson (the guy above), lots of backwards lookin’ conservative christians, and lots of liberal theologians.
